Scope Berlin Berlin, Germany
Claudia Dinep partnered with Belgian landscape architect, Joe Ingenito, in a competition for an Artist - In - Resident award to re-imagine a courtyard for the mixed-use high-rise residential/gallery/performance space in the center of the rich cultural neighborhood of Moabit, Berlin Germany.
Their first collaboration, Joe and Claudia saw an opportunity to team up to re-imagine their separate studio practices and work together within a more conceptual space. Residencies typically exclude landscape architects for various reasons such as project timeline logistics or the complexity of the collaborative process, however the flexibility of the curator and founders of SCOPE BLN who developed the brief and schedule made this opportunity possible for both firms.
Kick-off began with a site visit, community meeting and presentation where key pre-design questions meant to discern the interests of the current resident community were asked. What are your priorities? Security? Privacy? Community? Green Space? Many residents participated and the key desires for the re-design were indisputable. Green Space + Gathering Space.
