Hartbeat Ensemble Hartford CT USA

The innovative theater group, Hartbeat Ensemble, housed in a beautiful historic carriage house, is located just across the street from the famous Mark Twain House. Struggling with visibility and way-finding within the neighborhood and nearby competing cultural draws, Hartbeat Ensemble engaged Claudia to create a Concept Plan with a kit of elements including lighting, pavement and signage to draw the community in and draw awareness to the space. With a small budget and challenging urban site, simple techniques were needed to improve way-finding and to enliven the space at night. Additional benefits of creating a dynamic and welcoming pedestrian sequence, equal to the energy of the venue and talented community actors, addressed the critical interface between the indoor theater events and outdoor pre- and post- show gatherings.
